Operation

Weather Message works by receiving weather messages from the National Weather Service EMWIN data stream.  Weather Message can receive weather messages by direct ingestion from a satellite, radio modem, or Internet servers.  The software takes the weather message and processes it against alarms you setup.

Why would you want to use Weather Message?  It allows you to send abbreviated messages to pagers and cellular phones, in addition, it allows you to send weather messages and alarms to other computers on your network.  This allows people on your local computer network to quickly receive weather alerts.  Weather Message Client and Weather Message Map run in the background.

Weather Message Client contains a weather graphics viewer.  The graphics viewer allows you to view the graphics transmitted over the EMWIN network.  The graphics images can be animated and presented as a slide show.  With Internet access, you can use the radar retriever to receive radar images.

Components

Weather Message has three components, a server, a message client and a map client.  The Message and Map clients communicate with the Weather Message Server using TCP/IP.  TCP/IP is a common networking protocol installed on Windows   2003 / XP / Vista / 2008 / Windows 7, Windows 8, 2012, and Windows 10 computers.  The message client is also supported for PDA's running Pocket PC or Windows Mobile.

Weather Message supports from 50 to 250 client connections.  These can be a combination of the message client and/or the map client.  The number of connections is dependent on the amount of memory in your server computer.

The Weather Message Server can email or page a group of people using short text messages.  Weather Message includes software that will page individuals or groups using the TAP, SNPP, WCTP, or HTTP protocol.  These are the most common protocols used by paging providers.  All you need is a modem and/or an internet connection.  To use the e-mail capabilities, you must have an internet connection.

In addition, Weather Message can archive message for use by other programs.  These messages can also be sent to a web site to be included in a web page.  Weather Message supports inserting messages into a html template before sending the template to a web page.  Click here to see a sample weather page.

Licensing

Weather Message is licensed two ways.  The Weather Message Server is licensed for use on one computer.  The Weather Message Client and Map Client are licensed for use on any number of computers, up to the capacity of the Weather Message Server. The Server currently supports up to 50 connections. This allows you to run Message Client and Message Map on 25 computers. Click on the purchase link to get product pricing.  Note:  A 100 connection and 250 connection license is now available.
